Early adopters are a critical component to any startup environment. This particular demographic is unlike any that a company will face in the future. It’s the early adopters who are first to interact with a company’s initial product or service. It’s the early adopters who represent a company’s first fan or first critic (Read More)

(See pictures from Brian Solis, who also attended) While on other occasions, I may have taken the chance to pick the brains of the small team, yesterday I ended up spending the bulk of the (Read More)

: I say: not a cult. For three reasons: 1. The leader is not sleeping with my wife. 2. Facebook is not depriving me of protein and making me dance. 3. The women aren't wearing Little House on the Prairie dresses.

Gareth Davis, Facebook's gaming guru, today confirmed rumors that the company is "looking at" adding virtual currency to its hyper-popular social networking site. Translation: Facebook is actively developing the feature, but reserves the right to abandon the project. "Clearly, it's something that is a large undertaking," D (Read More)
: Ha! Don't know how it's going to evolve. In Japan and even more in Korea, social networks have a sound business model because of virtual goods. It's certainly also cultural, for the "gifts" offered on Facebook, while generating revenues, are not a key feature of the US-based network.

Editor’s note: The following is a guest post by Eric Clemons, Professor of Operations and Information Management at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. : It is a long post. However much depends on other medium available for advertising. Mobile internet browsing is on a rise and you will find advertisements in this area.
Net users do not click banner advertising but when they want to buy a product, they recall it.
I have noticed the word "Save $ 130" being used to market new products for a short time ie product is offered 1/3rd the price. A good campaign would lead to fall in advertisement budget but improve sales.

See example Cut your ad budget by word Save in the campaign
: There is also the behavioral targeting solution: Companies like wunderloop allow marketers to make ads fit the internet user’s centers of interest, the information collected remaining anonymous. Because ads are personalized and relevant to each internet user, campaigns can see a 400% click increase. A man will never see an ad for a lip stick unless he is looking for one. It is important to give access to internet user information that actually interests them.
: This article is BS. Advertising is alive and well, on and offline. Advertising will always exist online and it will only grow larger with more and more users coming online every day.

We have covered several directories, including Twellow and Just Tweet It , as well as compared Twitter directories based on their usefulness. But after this weekend, they may find themselves struggling against a new competitor. (Read More)
: "The premise is simple: anyone can tweet to @wefollow hashtags that represent what categories they would like to be listed under. WeFollow sees these @replies and then organizes users based on those hashtags. Common hashtags include #blogger, #entrepreneur, and #socialmedia. WeFollow only allows for three hashtags per person, assuring the directory does not become overly cluttered."
: Kevin strikes again! His appearance on Jimmy Fallon probably didn't hurt either! ;-) I thought TWELLOW was cool, but WEFOLLOW adds some graphical viewing treats!
