Twitter...what is it good for? It turns out this little service is good for a whole lot of things, despite the loud objections of people who've never really tried it. Even among true believers, though, it's been hard to figure out how this much loved company was going to afford to stay alive. How will Twitter make money? (Read More)
: Selling friend connections is a business model? Come to think of it, selling connections (i.e. direct marketing lists) is a huge business. I don't see why it wouldn't work. It's better than selling lists, as the recipient is opting in and can opt out at any time. Bring it on.

Social media tools are some of the latest crazes these days. We happen to be huge fans of a ton of them here on ReadWriteWeb. : @Rythan I agree. Flock is still not quite there, but it's come a long way. hey need to make a few more tweaks, add a few more features (like timelines) and tighten up the memory reigns (it leaks memory like crazy) before I can commit to it.
Although, I'm actually kind of liking Yoonoo (since I discovered that it can display my twitter timeline). The notifications are somewhat useless, and you can collapse the sidebar to minimize the effect it has on normal browsing. Plus it allows me to run twitter and multi-platform IM form inside the browser, that means I don't have to run pidgin and twhirl and firefox, just firefox.

: I was just saying that at a gathering this past weekend, and everyone looked at me like I was crazy because, "myspace and facebook are just for kids playing around." But there's a future out there they're not seeing.
: This is so true, and people who aren't seeing it are quickly going to be left behind. Don't know Twitter? Strike one on any job interview these days, whether or not its a media/tech gig--at least according to the recruiters I know.
: Completely agree with all on this topic. The social web is and will continue to dictate what people think about and how they think about it and will have more influence over traditional marketing mediums. As stated an entire generation is cutting their teeth on this medium - today's bleeding edge is tomorrows walkway.
